Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD)

Supporting you to identify requirements and submit a Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) Environmental Permit application

Your MCPD environmental compliance partner

If your facility currently operates plant which is categorised as Medium Combustion Plant (MCP), you may need an Environmental Permit as regulated under the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD).

The environmental regulators require all new Medium Combustion Plant (operating after 20th December 2018) to be permitted and now require some Medium Combustion Plant operating before 20th December 2018 to be permitted too. As a result, some of your older plant may need to be reviewed and require an Environmental Permit.

We offer an experienced team of environmental specialists, ready to work in partnership  with you to help establish your permit requirements and support you through your application.

Guiding you through the MCPD process

The MCPD will change the requirement for many organisations when managing their environmental impacts. However, establishing which plant requires a permit is based on its age and size.

The first deadline to have a permit in place for larger plant (5 MWth – 50 MWth) is 1st January 2024 – but will take several months for the regulatory body to determine an application.

Our team of environmental experts can support you with all aspects of your Environmental Permit preparation, assessment and application.

Our services include:
  • Reviewing your site activities and advising on appropriate permitting, monitoring and emission limit requirements for your plant
  • Providing guidance on the process for obtaining an Environmental Permit
  • Preparing the environmental permit application for your site(s)
  • Undertaking relevant environmental risk assessments, including air quality assessment
  • Supporting ongoing compliance with Environmental Permit conditions, including routine stack emissions testing
