FIRE DOOR INSPECTIONS

ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH BUREAU VERITAS

Fire safety regulations require that fire doors in the UK are subject to a suitable system of maintenance and are maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.

The required frequency of fire door inspection depends on the type of building and who occupies it, but those such as residential buildings, schools and hospitals are subject to heavy traffic and often repeated misuse.

Managing these obligations in line with evolving legislation can be a challenge, particularly over large estates and property portfolios. Especially with additional requirements to maintain a comprehensive, reliable audit trail and single ‘golden thread’ of information too.

Bureau Veritas combines specialist expertise with an innovative software solution to help achieve and maintain compliance more effectively.

  • WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRE DOOR INSPECTIONS?

Changes to the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 placed additional requirements on responsible persons of certain buildings to maintain compliance.

It is a legal requirement for responsible persons of multi-occupied residential and non-domestic buildings to undertake quarterly checks of all fire doors (including self-closing devices) in common parts and annual checks of entrance doors (including self-closing devices) that lead to common spaces within the building.

The regulations also require responsible persons to provide residents with information on the importance of fire doors to a building’s fire safety.
