DSEAR: SAFEGUARDING EMPLOYEES IN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES

The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) govern the management of explosive atmospheres in UK workplaces, helping to protect workers from the risks associated with Dangerous Substances.

It is vital for organisations to take the necessary steps to ensure that their workplace is safe from the risks associated with physical hazards due to the presence of flammable, explosive and corrosive substances.

OUR DSEAR COMPLIANCE SOLUTIONS

Bureau Veritas combines the skills, methods and expertise required to assess and minimise the risks associated with potentially hazardous and explosive incidents resulting from certain types of operations and the processing of Dangerous Substances.

We offer impartial support at every step, from experienced and qualified professionals, including a DSEAR Assessment, which comprises three main steps:

  • Identify hazards related to Dangerous Substances. Hazards can arise by using, handling, producing, transporting or storing Dangerous Substances. Our team reviews all operations that require dealing with Dangerous Substances to ensure all relevant hazards are considered.
  • Undertake a comprehensive risk assessment to determine if the existing control measures are suitable and adequate to manage risks related to handling Dangerous Substances. Bureau Veritas looks at each hazardous scenario and determines the likelihood of it occurring, as well as the potential consequence. Using an agreed Risk Matrix, we will then determine the level of risk and, where required, advise on additional control measures to ensure the level of risk is As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
  • Establish Hazardous Area Classification. By identifying where the extent and type of the hazardous zones are evident, we can assist in ensuring all electrical and mechanical equipment used within these areas are suitably ATEX rated.

In addition to hazard identification and zoning, our DSEAR compliance services encompass a wide range of activities, from conducting detailed risk assessments to implementing the appropriate control measures and providing ongoing support.

We work closely with clients to navigate the complex DSEAR regulations and ensure that your operations meet the required standards, safeguarding your workforce and mitigating the risk of serious incidents.

DSEAR DONE, ATEX AWAITS - YOUR PATH TO TOTAL HAZARD CONTROL
