Verify your carbon data to meet reporting standards

With increasing pressure on businesses to meet sustainability targets, the accuracy of data is under scrutiny more than ever. Reporting to voluntary and regulatory standards helps to provide information to stakeholders and investors and improves transparency. But it relies on accurate data.

With carbon verification, organisations can have confidence in the accuracy of their information. Bureau Veritas verifies businesses to a variety of voluntary standards and regulatory schemes for carbon foot printing. This enables them to manage and reduce emissions, identify areas for improvement and communicate externally with confidence.

CARBON VERIFICATION TO ACHIEVE NET ZERO EMISSIONS

For companies to achieve net zero emissions, they must implement business practices across the supply chain that leave no net impact on the climate. Our carbon footprint verification experts can assess the results of GHG removal projects and reduction initiatives and verifying reports on progress towards their net zero objectives.

ORGANISATIONAL CARBON VERIFICATION

We work with some of the world’s largest organisations to provide carbon data verification services, using internationally recognised frameworks 14064-3 and ISAE3000 for the verification process.

Many companies report emissions aligned to the World Resources Institute & World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol, which is the original standard for GHG inventories, supplying a framework for measuring and reporting emissions. It encompasses three main scopes: Organisation process emissions, emissions from organization energy supply, and supply chain and upstream production.

Companies can also choose to report against ISO 14064-1, which contains requirements and guidance for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals at an organisational level. Bureau Veritas has offered ISO 14064-1 verifications since 2006 and has extensive experience with the standard, along with accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

VERIFYING GREEN FINANCE INVESTMENTS

Organisations are increasingly investing in Green Finance projects that contribute to a low-carbon and climate change-resilient economy. Our services also include certification to climate bond standards and green bond principles, helping businesses verify the positive impact of their investments and provide transparency to investors and stakeholders.

Verification enables organisations to voluntarily demonstrate the robustness of their carbon footprint calculations and measurements via public reporting.

AIRPORT CARBON ACCREDITATION

To achieve accreditation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) reporting scheme, airports must have their carbon footprint independently verified by a third party such as Bureau Veritas and submitted to the programme administrator.

It is part of the air transport industry’s bid to reduce carbon emissions, with a pledge that all 500 members of Airports Council International (ACI) Europe will reach net zero by 2050 for the carbon emissions under their control.

OTHER CARBON VERIFICATION SERVICES

Our carbon verification services also include:

  • Neutrality calculation and verification for organisations, events, or products (PAS 2050/ PAS 2060/ ISO 14067)
  • Bioenergy assurance
  • Green bonds assurance
