Bureau Veritas to implement Verification of Conformity Programme for Morocco

The programme applies to a wide scope of products across 11 key categories, covering electrical products, construction products, toys, gas appliances, shoes and clothing, chemical products, vehicle parts and more.

Understanding the importance of VoC

Verification of Conformity involves checking the conformity of goods according to specific technical regulations, national standards or an international equivalent. It also encourages importers and exporters to understand the need for compliance and its benefits.

Under the new programme, all applicable consignments shipped from February 1^st 2020 must be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity before they can secure Customs clearance in order to enter the Kingdom of Morocco.

What is involved?

Depending on the products, the verification will take place either by Bureau Veritas teams in the country of export, or at destination.

Documentary evidence is required to prove compliance with the required standards, or the goods can be tested in an approved laboratory, before the shipment undergoes a physical verification to ensure that the documents match the products. Regular shipments can be treated under registration or licensing.
