BUREAU VERITAS CONFIRMED AS REGISTERED BUILDING CONTROL APPROVER UNDER THE BUILDING SAFETY ACT 2022

Apr. 9 2024

Bureau Veritas has been successful in its application to become a Registered Building Control Approver as part of changes introduced under the Building Safety Act 2022, ensuring we can continue to provide Building Control services to clients with confidence.

Under the legislation, existing Approved Inspectors were required to undertake a rigorous audit and application process to become a Registered Building Control Approver by 6th April 2024. This approval replaced the previous license issued by the Construction Industry Approved Inspector Register (CICAIR). Successful applicants including Bureau Veritas were notified by HSE and new registrations valid until 5th April 2029.

It means we can provide Building Control services on all building work, including continuing to deliver the building control function for higher-risk building work under Regulation 46 of The Building (Registered Building Control Approvers etc.) (England) Regulations 2024 and Regulation 3 of the Building Safety Act 2022 (Commencement No. 4, Transitional and Saving Provisions) (Wales) Regulations 2024.

For our clients, this approval gives confidence that all of our surveyors/inspectors have registered with the Building Safety Regulator at the appropriate class - and can continue to deliver the highest level of service.

The regulations require that the Registered Building Control Approver must have appropriate competent resources (registered with the Building Safety Regulator at the appropriate Class) in the form of Registered Building Inspectors to undertake regulated building control activities.

Failure to do so would also result in the transitional arrangements being enforced, so this approval is a real demonstration of our quality and competence.
