At Bureau Veritas, we are proud to have built a structured strategic partnership with UK Armed Forces, which not only offers new career opportunities for those leaving the armed forces, but offers Bureau Veritas employees the chance to experience and learn from some of the best leadership training in the world. Our programme, Joint Forces, gives ex-forces personnel, including wounded, sick and injured servicemen and women, the chance to apply their skills and build a career with Bureau Veritas. Launched in 2012 and by the start of 2017 we had recruited a total of over 120 people through the scheme – all ex-armed forces personnel.
We know that many people leaving the armed forces find it difficult to gain visibility of positions with companies like Bureau Veritas, were they could apply the skills they already have to build a second career. Bureau Veritas recogonise this and offer HM Forces Service leavers roles with tailored best in class training and genuine development potential. Bureau Veritas also offer a transition support program from Ex Service personnel already within BV to help new joiners with help and advice to make the transition into a new role as smooth as possible. We developed Joint Forces with the support of the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and Defence Relationship Management (DRM) and have since been proud to be able to help many ex-service personal complete their resettlement journey – as well as supporting many more through work placements or by giving advice.
Bureau Veritas is delighted to take part in Reserve Challenge, operated by the XI Signals Brigade based in the Midlands, this offers opportunities for small teams from across UK businesses to experience, over a weekend, life in the Army Reserve this includes Leadership challenges and team building.
In December 2015, Bureau Veritas signed the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant, which underlines the company’s commitment to support the Armed Forces community and to recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to the business and our country. In 2015 Bureau Veritas was awarded an Employer Recognition Silver Award for our services to Military Resettlement and in acknowledgment of our continuing work we have received in 2016 the Employer Recognition Gold Award. We were one of only 22 companies to receive this.
