Bureau Veritas partnered with Simply Planning Ltd, a UK-based planning consultancy, to prepare a crucial air quality assessment that enabled the client to submit their planning application for the redevelopment of the former Joules Distribution Centre in Corby, Northamptonshire. Utilising our expertise in navigating local and national planning policies, we delivered the required assessment within a month, helping the client progress their plans to transform the existing building into flexible employment space.

Client Challenge

  • The client was looking to submit a planning application in 2024 for flexible employment uses. This included an extension to the building increasing the floor area by 3,017,m2.
  • As a minimum, an air quality screening report was required to accompany the planning application to fulfil the technical requirements set out by local and national planning policies.

Solution

  • Bureau Veritas was engaged by Simply Planning Ltd to prepare the required air quality assessment.
  • The project scope involved a desk-based assessment, and the entire process from start to completion took approximately 1 month.
  • We utilised our understanding of the local and national policy landscape and our prior relationship with the client to deliver the required air quality assessment.
  • The team collaborated effectively with the Environmental Health Officer and an external Transport Consultant to ensure the assessment met all the necessary technical guidelines and planning policy requirements.
