Return to Work: Occupational Health
Finding a Solution with Bureau Veritas
Our client is one of the UK’s leading occupational health providers, helping organisations promote and maintain the physical, mental and
social wellbeing of their employees.
Keen to maintain its own standards internally, the organisation turned to bureau veritas to support its own covid-19 readiness once employees returned from coronavirus restrictions. Through a combination of a detailed audit and comprehensive training for covid-19 safety advocates, bureau veritas and our client were able to ensure that colleagues were suitably informed and equipped to reinforce
the behaviours needed to maximise safety during an unprecedented time.
PROJECT AT A GLANCE
Client: Occupational Healthcare Provider
Location: UK
Project Duration: 2 Days Review and 10 Days onsite Audits
Service: Covid-19 Return to Work Services
PROJECT BRIEF
A team of Bureau Veritas experts, led by Certification Manager Clare Blyth, developed and delivered a two-pronged approach to support the client’s readiness for returning employees. A twelve-day system assessment was conducted, including remote site audits and a document review. The resulting audit report highlighted both the strengths and opportunities for improvement. Bureau Veritas also provided a bespoke site checklist, to support compliance at individual sites, and undertook sample site audits to determine compliance. In addition, Clare Blyth delivered a training course to the organisation’s nominated COVID-19 Safety Advocate for each of its 270 sites - those responsible for supervising and championing coronavirus secure site measures. The COVID-19 readiness training was designed to inform and equip advocates on the measures and expectations required in order to safeguard colleagues and customers.
Achievements
- With a large workforce spread across numerous sites, the client was keen to ensure its health and safety professionals had the information and understanding they needed to help safeguard colleagues. It also needed to assess its own compliance against best practice standards.
- In delivering training, undertaking system and site assessments, and providing a certificate of assurance based on the audit findings, Bureau Veritas was able to support these objectives so that the client could move forward with confidence.
"As a leading provider of H&S services itself, our client knew the standards that needed to be achieved. Our processes were designed to measure and assess those standards, helping to ensure that colleagues and customers were safeguarded as much as possible."
- BUREAU VERITAS UK
"Bureau Veritas worked hard to develop bespoke assessments and training that gave us the assurance
needed to welcome our teams back to work with confidence. I can’t fault the team, for supporting us at what was an incredibly challenging time for the organisation and for our collagues."
