Our Service Leaver Programme
If you’ve spent time in the Armed Forces, we believe the mindset and skills you’ve developed are highly prized. Moving into a civilian career can be as challenging as it is an opportunity. We recognise this, and we take pride in offering you an organisation where you can apply the skills you already have to build a second career. It may even be a career you didn’t know existed in the civilian life.
We offer Service leavers roles with tailored best in class training and genuine development potential. Bureau Veritas also offer a transition support program from Ex Service personnel already within BV to help new joiners with help and advice to make the transition into a new role as smooth as possible. We developed this programme with the support of the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and Defence Relationship Management and have since been proud to be able to help many ex-service personnel complete their resettlement journey – as well as supporting many more through work placements or by giving advice.
In some of our business units over 20% of the workforce have served, which means we have a great support network already in place. From this supportive internal community we promote our Service Leaver Programme through advertising our vacancies on CTP’s website, attending CTP Careers Fairs, provide live Web Chats and much more. We also have a close relationship with the RAJA and The White Ensign and other charities to develop our offering and provide support where it is most impactful. We also have a dedicated Facebook page for Forces personnel.
In December 2015, Bureau Veritas signed the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant, which underlines the company’s commitment to support the Armed Forces community and to recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to the business and our country. In 2015 Bureau Veritas was awarded an Employer Recognition Silver Award for our services to Military Resettlement and in acknowledgment of our continuing work we have received in 2016 the Employer Recognition Gold Award. We regularly advertise on the Forces Families website to ensure that we are supporting those in the surrounding community as well as those who have served directly, seeing the importance that their roles play.
Bureau Veritas is delighted to take part in Reserve Challenge, operated by the XI Signals Brigade based in the Midlands, this offers opportunities for small teams from across UK businesses to experience life in the Army Reserve this includes Leadership challenges and team building.
