Reducing Emissions, Demonstrating Transparency: Supporting Our Clients with Carbon Services

May. 19 2021

As the climate crisis continues to dominate global headlines, governments worldwide continue to set targets to reduce carbon emissions and support The Paris Agreement. Here in the UK, our government has committed to achieving Net Zero compared with 1990 levels by 2050 and has set a new target cut emissions by 78% by 2035.

To support these goals, an increasing number of businesses are setting themselves ambitious targets, including carbon-neutral or Net Zero, which means reducing emissions wherever possible and compensating for remaining emissions with an equivalent amount of offsets.

Bureau Veritas is committed to supporting our clients in achieving their objectives. We offer a wide range of sustainability services together with education and advice, including a new whitepaper and upcoming webinar - providing the insight and guidance that businesses need to help realise their carbon goals.

Support from sustainability experts

Our new white paper, Carbon: Reducing Emissions, Demonstrating Transparency, examines how businesses impact carbon emissions, what they are doing to decarbonise, and how audits of reporting systems and data verification can help companies to meet their targets.

Key topics including the path of Net Zero, the three scopes to classify a company’s greenhouse gas emissions, measuring/reducing carbon footprint and the role of data verification.

We’re also supporting clients with a new webinar on May 25th, which focuses specifically on scope 3 (supply chain) emissions. Don’t Let Carbon Slip Through The Net will be delivered by David Fairchild, Associate Director, and other experts in the UK Sustainability team at Bureau Veritas.

David Murray, Sustainability Business Unit Director for Bureau Veritas said: “This is a crucial time for large businesses in particular as they seek to play their part in achieving the targets that have been set.

“It’s vital that the government gets the support of large businesses and large energy consumers in reducing carbon emissions. Our programme of support, including the white paper and upcoming webinar, will help businesses to identify, reduce and verify their carbon footprint as they seek to achieve their own Net Zero goals.”
