JOIN BUREAU VERITAS AT THE INSTITUTE OF ACOUSTICS CONFERENCE 2020

Oct. 8 2020

Bureau Veritas will be presenting at Acoustics 2020, the annual conference of the Institute of Acoustics, which is being run virtually this year in line with COVID-secure measures.

Join Dr Yiying Hao from the specialist acoustics team at Bureau Veritas, who will be presenting a paper and taking questions as part of the Soundscape session on Thursday October 8th.

The paper, titled ‘An exploratory review of soundscape descriptor models for soundscape assessment and design practice’, will explore the belief that soundscape service will become more important in industry as international and UK standards evolve. It will also introduce soundscape descriptor modelling, which aims to bridge the gap between research and practice.

Yiying Hao said: “By taking into account the sound environment as it is perceived, in context, soundscape represents a step change in environmental acoustics. It is an important topic for those in the acoustics field and we are looking forward to igniting a debate about what the future looks like for acoustics engineers.

“It’s fantastic for Bureau Veritas to be able to join other experts on the agenda and we’re looking forward to taking part in this ground-breaking virtual conference.”

Dr Richard Maggs, consulting group manager at Bureau Veritas, also features on the conference agenda having contributed to the work on ‘Synergies and conflicts between air quality and noise’ on Monday October 5th.

Commenting on the team’s attendance at Acoustics 2020, he said: “I am proud of the Bureau Veritas team in the way that they are leading on this change to environmental acoustics in a way to achieve positive win-win outcomes. The current pandemic has shown how much we should value the peace and tranquillity of the spaces that we work and live in.”
