DOWNLOAD YOUR GUIDE TO FIRE DOOR SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Oct. 31 2022

For this year’s Fire Door Safety Week (31st October - 4th November), Bureau Veritas has launched a new guide to fire door safety and compliance – giving Duty Holders all the information they need to help meet their obligations.

Fire Door Safety Week is the British Woodworking Federation, supported by the BWF Fire Door Alliance. It is an industry campaign that seeks to increase understanding of the critical role that fire doors play in protecting life and property – with this year’s campaign looking to ‘stamp out the legacy of fire door neglect’.

As proud supporters of the initiative, Bureau Veritas’s Fire Safety team is taking the opportunity to raise awareness of maintenance requirements too.

They have created a seven page guide to fire door safety and compliance, which includes:

  • How to achieve compliance with The Fire Safety Act 2021
  • Details of compartmentation to inhibit rapid fire spread within a building
  • The purpose of fire doors
  • Details of Bureau Veritas services to support fire safety

Writing in the guide, John O’Sullivan MBE, Technical Director for Fire Consultancy at Bureau Veritas, said: “Fire doors are such a key component of a fire safety system, playing a vital role in maintaining the integrity of passive fire compartmentation to mitigate the risk to life safety, destruction of property and its impact on the environment.

It is absolutely essential that duty holders are meeting their obligations to understand their purpose, identify their locations across property estates and, crucially, check their effectiveness in line with standards.
