Apr. 7 2020

The food industry continues to face unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with many organisations forced to close or adapt their operations.

Our specialist food team works with businesses throughout the food supply chain, from manufacturers to retailers and caterers, supporting with all aspects of food safety and compliance. And as part of this support service, the Bureau Veritas food team has developed a Food Sector Emergency Preparedness Pack, outlining the vital information food businesses need to know during this difficult time.

Our support pack, available to download for free, includes guidance on how to identify risk factors across your organisation, how to take action to mitigate risk and a useful checklist to help ensure food safety in light of current restrictions.

It also details some of the specialist technical services available from Bureau Veritas, including a unique new support service to help businesses address the specific food safety and compliance challenges when adapting to meet restrictions. This could include foodservice operators switching to takeaway or delivery services.

Tracy Wain, Food Safety Technical Manager for Bureau Veritas, said: “Organisations throughout the food supply chain have been hit hard by the pandemic and the subsequent restrictions put in place. Some have been forced to close and those in a position to switch to delivery or takeaway services have had to identify and overcome new challenges in a short space of time.

“This support pack is part of our ongoing commitment to support food businesses in achieving and maintaining compliance, with a wealth of guidance available for free.

“And for those who need additional support, we have developed an essential new support service where they can speak with our technical experts for specialist, tailored advice on how to navigate challenges relating to health, safety and compliance.”
