CLIENT CHALLENGE

Our client, a leading solid fuel manufacturer in the UK, faced the critical challenge of reducing CO₂ emissions while pioneering their blend of biomass into their existing products. To achieve this, they required expert support to navigate the intricate process of obtaining and maintaining the correct Environmental Permits (EPs). This included environmental risk assessments for air and water, a review of their Environmental Management System, and a Best Available Techniques (BAT) assessment.

The client sought Bureau Veritas' expertise to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to facilitate multiple EP permits for their new plant and operational processes, requiring expert support to navigate the complex process of EP variation applications, including environmental risk assessments for air and water, and a review of their Environmental Management System and Best Available Techniques (BAT) assessment.

The client’s challenge was multifaceted, requiring not only the integration of biomass into their products but also the investigation of carbon sequestration techniques. This necessitated a thorough review and variation of their existing Environmental Permit to ensure compliance with updated environmental standards.

The client needed a partner who could provide expert guidance through the intricate process of EP variation, including detailed risk assessments and system reviews, to maintain their operational legitimacy and environmental stewardship.
