CLIENT CHALLENGE

The client faced the challenge of ensuring compliance with the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) for several combustion plants across England and Scotland. These sites, with potential thermal capacities over 50 MWth, required environmental permits to operate legally.

The project, ongoing since 2022, involved multiple locations and complex regulatory requirements.

The client needed to navigate complex regulatory landscapes to ensure compliance with environmental permitting directives. They required assistance in identifying the appropriate permit types, preparing required documentation, and conducting stack emission testing where necessary. The project involved multiple sites across England and Scotland, adding to the complexity.

The scope of the project included:

  • Peer review to determine environmental permit requirements
  • Preparation of MCPD permit documentation
  • Monitoring surveys
  • Stack emission testing through a third party
  • Ongoing compliance support, including emission monitoring

The client sought Bureau Veritas' expertise to navigate the regulatory landscape, prepare required documentation, and ensure continuous compliance.

The project supports the client's long-term goal of maintaining operational integrity and regulatory compliance across its asset portfolio.
