04.17.25

North Devon District Hospital/ Royal Devon University Healthcare

North Devon District Council (NDC) and Royal Devon University Healthcare's (RDUH) are collaborating to implement RDUH's "Green Plan 2020 – 2025". As part of this initiative, Bureau Veritas was engaged to facilitate an air quality diffusion tube monitoring survey and prepare a summary report to support the plan's implementation.

Client Challenge

RDUH NHS Foundation Trust, a UK company with 15,000 employees across North, East and Mid Devon, was implementing its "Green Plan 2020 – 2025". As part of this plan, NDC had been approached to assist in the air quality monitoring of the North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) site. Both parties approached Bureau Veritas to collect monitoring data at three locations around the hospital where poor air quality due to idling vehicles or high traffic areas was a concern. The data would also be used by an Apprentice Environmental Health Practitioner at NDC as part of their final year degree project.

Solution

Building upon our prior relationship with the client and technical expertise in the area of air quality monitoring, Bureau Veritas was tasked with facilitating a 12-month air quality diffusion tube monitoring survey and preparing a summary monitoring report.

Additionally, Bureau Veritas provided guidance and support to the clients, ensuring the air quality data collected could be effectively utilised to inform RDUH's "Green Plan 2020 – 2025".

Benefits

  • The air quality monitoring data will inform RDUH's sustainability initiatives and help them achieve their "Green Plan" goals.
  • The successful collaboration between Bureau Veritas, NDC, and RDUH lays the groundwork for future partnerships.
  • The positive outcomes of this project can serve as a model for other healthcare organisations and local authorities looking to implement similar sustainability initiatives, helping to drive wider environmental and health improvements across the region.
