Vibration at Work Competency
OBJECTIVES
The Vibration at Work competency training course runs for one day and is inclusive of both theoretical work and a practical session on the use of a vibration meter. The course will cover a range of topics starting with the fundamentals of vibration, through to the requirements and implementation of the Regulations. At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Identify personnel at risk from vibration exposure
- Undertake simple vibration calculations
- Use a vibration meter competently
- Plan and carry out vibration surveys in the workplace
- Record and report the findings of a vibration exposure assessment
WHO THE COURSE IS FOR?
This course is intended to provide competency and training to enable you to carry out vibration at work risk assessments in line with the Health & Safety Executive’s Control of Vibration at Work Regulations (2005).
For clients wishing to use our innovative and proprietary software package – Vibration Exposure Management System (VEMS) to calculate workforce vibration exposure, additional training can be provided.
COURSE CONTENTS
The course will cover:
- Introduction to Hand-arm Vibration syndrome (HAVS) and Whole-body Vibration (WBV);
- Hand-arm vibration risks;
- Legislation relating to vibration;
- Including reference to the 2005 Control of Vibration at Work Regulations;
- Vibration theory and vibration levels;
- Vibration meters and their use;
- Vibration exposure;
- Management of HAVS and WBV:
- Provision of information;
- Exposure tracking;
- Health surveillance.
The course incorporates a practical session within the classroom on the use of a hand-arm vibration meter and survey requirements.
For clients wishing to utilise Bureau Veritas’ VEMS system, additional training can be supplied.
