Could you describe your career path and current position at Bureau Veritas UK? 

My background is in architecture and sustainable architectural design. I did my PhD study in urban sound environments to explore the relationship between urban morphology and sound environment. After I finished my post-doc research project at university, I started to work as Senior Acoustic Consultant in companies. Now I am a Principal Consultant in the Acoustics, Vibration & Occupational Hygiene team. 

In your day-to-day work, how do you contribute to Shaping a World of Trust? 

In my daily work, I report the baseline noise data collected, do an assessment of noise sources, and suggest noise mitigation measures for clients to make sure there are no noise issues associated with new development, to protect people’s indoor and outdoor amenities needs in term of noise limit control. 

What do you enjoy most about your role? 

One of the biggest motivations for me to move from academia to industry is that I can apply my skills and knowledge to real project practice and put my feet on the ground. I enjoyed solving different practical noise problems with creative ideas, which gives me a sense of achievement.  

What has been a personal highlight since joining us? 

Bureau Veritas has clients in a very wide range of sectors. I extended my project experience massively after I joined Bureau Veritas four years ago. There is always a new challenge and I never get bored.

What do you do outside of work to have fun? 

I like painting and photography. I spend most of my spare time with my two kids, who always make me laugh. Cooking is my other hobby, which benefits the whole family.
