Chargescan by BV: An End-To-End Solution for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

May. 18 2021

The number of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) in the UK continues to grow at a rapid rate to support the roll-out of electric vehicles, but new research from Bureau Veritas shows just 19 per cent of people are confident that EV charging points are safe and compliant.

The findings come as we launch ChargeScan by BV - a new end-to-end solution from Bureau Veritas to maintain reliability and compliance of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS).

Research from Zap Map shows that there are now more than 40,700 EV connectors and 23,600 devices at more than 15,000 locations in the UK. More than 600 new devices have been installed in the last month alone.

This continued increase in charging infrastructure is needed to support the UK’s transition to electric vehicles, which will see the sale of new diesel and electric vehicles banned by 2030.

However, our findings show that the majority of people believe there is work to be done to ensure the safety and compliance of systems. In a poll of Bureau Veritas UK’s LinkedIn followers, just 19 per cent said that they are confident systems are safe and regulated. Almost a quarter (24 per cent) felt there is room for improvement, while 37 per cent said the industry needs more support.

A new service for EV Charging Stations

ChargeScan by BV is part of BV Green Line, offering services and solutions dedicated to sustainability. Our clients can now access verified data throughout the asset lifecycle to ensure the reliability of their EVCS network, with a complete portfolio of services from design, construction and commissioning to operation of the EVCS.

Using real-time information verified by Bureau Veritas inspectors on the ground, asset owners will be able to take immediate action to ensure that their charging stations are compliant, always available and fully functional for end-customers. This information can be embedded into the client’s existing digital platform, or on a customised digital hub developed by Bureau Veritas.

Michael Kenyon, Electrical Lead for Bureau Veritas UK, said: “We recognise the importance of sustainable services and solutions, and ChargeScan by BV is the latest in our portfolio of services enabling our clients to address growing challenges in this field.

“ChargeScan by BV brings trust and transparency to our clients, giving them full visibility of their EVCS network during both construction and operations. We enable them to take immediate action, based on reliable information from Bureau Veritas experts.
