Power Press & Process Machinery Inspections

PUWER INSPECTION & ASSESSMENT

As an employer, you have an obligation under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) to ensure that work equipment is suitable for intended use.

This means making sure that it is safe, correctly installed, well maintained, only used by persons with adequate information, instruction and training, and accompanied by appropriate health and safety measures, such as protective devices and controls.

Bureau Veritas offers an experienced team of inspection engineers and H&S experts, working nationwide, to support you in achieving compliance.

SUPPORTING PUWER COMPLIANCE

PUWER places duties on people and companies who own, operate, or have control over work equipment, as well as employers whose employees use work equipment, whether owned by them or not.

It applies to machinery, appliances, apparatus, tools and installations for use at work, whether exclusively or not. This includes equipment which employees provide for their own use at work’.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential hazards through risk assessments
  • Making sure equipment is properly maintained and inspected
  • Providing training to employees
  • Implementing controls to reduce risks
  • Putting in place processes to ensure your employees can follow safe working practices and report any defects

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PUWER INSPECTION?

  • Achieve and maintain compliance and reduce the risk of financial penalty
  • Ensure safety across operations
  • Improve availability of equipment and identify faults earlier
  • Enable better planning of maintenance and repair programmes to spread costs
