Highlighting the importance of a sustainable supply chain on World Accreditation Day
Jun. 7 2019
With World Accreditation Day (9 June) focusing on the supply chain this year, Bureau Veritas is reminding organisations of the growing importance of embedding sustainability into their supply chain.
World Accreditation is a global initiative, jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation. This year’s theme focuses on how accreditation provides added value to supply chains.
However, accreditation is not the only critical factor for a successful supply chain. Sustainable procurement is increasing being recognised by investors and other stakeholders as a demonstration of credibility and resilience – which has driven the need for assurance services liked those offered by Bureau Veritas. Our Sustainability team offers a vast range of trusted services including sustainability report assurance and CDP data verification.
David Murray, Technical Director for Sustainability for Bureau Veritas said: “Accreditation is clearly important and it’s great that World Accreditation Day is raising the profile of a sustainable supply chain.
“As global supply chains become increasingly complex it is important organisations fully understand exactly where and how their products are being produced. It is no longer enough to understand and manage your own sustainability impacts, but also that of your suppliers too. And that’s where our sustainable procurement services can add real value.
“Companies that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability have a real competitive edge by gaining the confidence of clients, investors, consumers and the local community.”
