    27th February 2008 - IPD Environment Code

    City Hall, London

Over the last six months, Bureau Veritas have worked with IPD Occupiers on the development of its first ever Environment Code.  A universal framework that can be applied anywhere in the world, the code enables organisations to measure consistently and compare buildings’ environmental performance in accordance with emerging good practice.

Bureau Veritas are the official development partners of the code with Barclays and CBRE. Endorsed by the CBI, the code was officially launched on the 26th February at a cocktail event at the City Hall, London .  With corporate property accounting for some 20% of global carbon emissions, corporate property executives will be asked to supply ever more detailed and higher quality information about their estate’s environmental performance. The IPD Environment Code offers an innovative solution to this new challenge, acting as a good practice template for the collection, measurement and analysis of environmental information.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Anthony Hyde, Bureau Veritas said: “Over the last six months, we have helped IPD review existing best practice and develop a set of clear, well defined and comprehensive measures of the environmental performance of buildings. As part of this development, the code was reviewed by leading stakeholders in the property industry. As a leading player in the property industry for health, safety and environment services, we are confident that this is a robust tool that can play a significant role in helping property occupiers around the world better understand and reduce their environmental impacts.”
