CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY SERVICES
Addressing the environmental, social, economic and ethical impacts of your organisation
Download the service sheet in PDF
Corporate Responsibility (CR) is one of the greatest challenges facing the corporate sector. Increased public awareness of environmental and human rights related issues means that there is a demand for greater accountability and a growing need for companies to identify, manage and communicate how they are addressing their environmental, social, economic and ethical impacts. A recent survey of 350 European CEOs found that 78% agreed that “integrating responsible business practices makes a company more competitive”. This is reflected in the investment community which has increasingly adopted CR criteria for screening investments with considerable success – the FTSE4Good Index is the fastest growing investment index in the UK.
A comprehensive approach to CR through the identification of stakeholders, risks and opportunities coupled with the development and implementation of a robust CR strategy and policies will positively influence your business, demonstrating to clients and relevant stakeholders that your company is addressing reasonable concerns and promoting value creation.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Corporate Responsibility is defined by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development as a commitment to contribute to sustainable economic development, working with employees, their families, local community and society to improve quality of life.
It is also known as ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ or Sustainability or managing your ‘triple bottom line’. It encompasses management of environmental, social, ethical and economic impacts. This includes areas such as governance, management systems, stakeholder engagement, customers, employment related issues, community, human rights, suppliers, health and safety, green design and sustainable buildings and specific environmental aspects such as carbon management, water consumption and waste generation. As a business discipline at both a strategic and operational level CR is the systematic identification and consideration of risks and opportunities arising from stakeholder expectations, international standards, community and market place practices.
Corporate responsibility is a complex subject which continues to evolve in line with increasing public awareness of social and environmental issues and media interest. Companies are at different levels of CR development. This has generally depended upon their public profile and scale of CR impacts. In the near future, it is likely that the focus will continue to be on carbon management (with increased scrutiny on carbon neutral claims) and human rights labour related issues. In the UK legislation is likely to increase in relation to planning laws and on specific issues such as energy and waste.
There is likely to be increased disclosure but CR reports will be better linked to material impacts and target specific audiences. Best practice companies will be searching for opportunities for multi-dimensional value creation which will better link their CR and business strategies.
