US CPSC Investigates Lead in PVC Infant Bibs
The US CPSC in conjunction with the New York State Attorney General’s Office and the Illinois State Attorney General’s Office has announced an investigation into lead content in PVC bibs.

Research Organization Reports 1,4-Dioxane Exceeds Recommended Limits in some Cosmetic Products
The EWG has released test results for the presence of 1,4-dioxane in certain children’s bath or adult personal care products. Three of the eighteen products tested exceeded the FDA's recommended limits of less than 10 ppm.

Canada Proposes to Amend the Cribs and Cradles Regulations and Requests Comments from Industry

Correction Issued for Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear (07B-119)
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued corrective amendments to the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, Part 1615, Standard for the Flammability of Children’s Sleepwear: Sizes 0 Through 6X.

New EU Requirements for Projectile Toys with Suction Cups (07B-118)
Clause 4.17.1 (b) of EN 71-1: 2005 specifies that “resilient materials used as impact surfaces shall not become detached when tested to 8.4.2.3 (tension test, protective components).” This test requires a 60 Newton tensile force to be applied for example on the resilient suction cup of an arrow.

New Requirements in the EU for Toys Intended for Drinking
Amendment 10 to EN 71-1 : 1998, incorporated into the consolidated version of EN 71-1 published in 2005, is intended to address the risks of suffocation presented by cup-shaped, bowl-shaped or one-half of an egg-shaped toys having a nearly round, oval, or elliptical opening.
