Sharing Best Practice in Powered Access

13/09/17

Bureau Veritas will be returning to the annual Nationwide Platforms Working at Height Best Practice Forum, demonstrating our inspection capabilities and added value services for the powered access industry.

Visit the Bureau Veritas stand on Thursday 21st September at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire, where Pete Williamson and Mark Rosen from our team will be on hand to discuss engineering inspections, mechanical inspections and our new Mobile Plant Unit.

There will also be a chance to learn more about Swift, the unique Bureau Veritas client portal which provides complete visibility and up to the minute updates on your engineering inspections.

Achieve and maintain compliance

The industry-recognised Bureau Veritas mechanical division works with a wide range of clients to help achieve and maintain their statutory obligations, including Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 (1999 in Northern Ireland) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998 (1999 in Northern Ireland).

Under PUWER, users of work equipment have a responsibility to ensure that the plant or asset is safe to use. This covers all work equipment and any activity involving the equipment – including starting, stopping, programming, setting, transporting, repairing, modifying, maintaining, servicing and cleaning. LOLER covers all work equipment for lifting and lowering loads and will be an additional statutory requirement for many delegates attending the Working at Height Best Practice Forum.

Of course, for clients working with mobile work equipment there are extra challenges, which is why Bureau Veritas recently launched a dedicated Mobile Plant Unit, delivering on-hire inspections.

Mobile platforms, lifting and crane equipment are often hired out to contractors and moved around the UK, which means it can be logistically difficult to meet statutory obligations. Using our close working relationships with plant hire companies and service teams, we work with clients to help them overcome these challenges and meet their statutory obligations.
